‘Grow Anywhere Tour’ – A Day in Denver
Burpee  Edible Gardening Team Members

Today’s event was a blast! First, the #BurpeeTruck picked up 500 healthy vegetable plants at Gulley Greenhouses in Fort Collins. They supplied a good variety of tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers from Burpee’s BOOST Collection. We were excited to share these highly nutritious varieties of plants with the community! Next, we picked up our produce at Alpine Summit Sales Inc. in Denver. Local consumers can even shop at Alpine Summit Sales for a variety of fresh fruits and veggies at a great price. The 1,500 pounds of produce we picked up looked delicious!

The temperature reached the 60s with lots of sunshine by lunchtime, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. We showed up at Inner City school in Denver a little early but they had everything ready and set up for the event. They made a great sign to let the community know about the event and set up balloons at the end of the tables to attract community members to come. They had a team of amazing and enthusiastic volunteers with school and community pride!

This was truly a community event. The school was smaller and private, so a large number of the guests were from the area. We overheard one woman say after she picked up her plants and produce, “I love my neighborhood!” There were so many excited community members who were very thankful to be receiving plants and produce. We loved being there just as much! After, we talked about the Burpee plants from the BOOST Collection to the volunteers; they were so excited to share the nutritional benefits with the community members that came to receive their goods.

This afternoon’s event was very rewarding. Not only were people both grateful and in disbelief in many cases to be getting all these free goodies, they were looking forward to start planting. We were able to talk to a variety of people who were avid gardeners or were going to begin gardening as a hobby due to this event! That was music to our ears. We wanted to share our love of gardening with this community and were thrilled when people wanted to learn how to grow their own food.

Thanks so much to Inner City school and the volunteers. We were glad to be a part of an event that made a huge impact in the Denver community. Again, it was hard to leave such an amazing city, but we’re thankful for the good people we had an opportunity to meet.

The next stop on the Grow Anywhere Tour is Kansas City and we’re on the road. We can hardly wait!!!
