Harvesting and using lavender

Growing lavender can be very rewarding. In the springtime you can watch the hummingbirds inspecting the gorgeous purple flowers, and enjoy the wonderful fragrances wafting through the garden with every breeze. Later, you can harvest and preserve those blossoms and use them in many different projects.

Homegrown vegetables make healthier schools

In June the Burpee Home Gardens team was honored to take part in the wonderful student gardens at the Academy for Global Citizenship in Chicago. Our addition of a time-out garden for students to gather their thoughts paired nicely with their bountiful raised garden beds of nutritious vegetables and herbs, and sustainable landscape, which the students tended as part of their curriculum.
