Carrots, Pumpkins, Sqaush, and Sweet Potatoes. What do they all have in common? Their color! Beta-carotene is a source of vitamin A for humans and other mammals. Here’s a nutritional breakdown of some orange fruits veggies and their benefits to you!

Carrots
It’s true! When Mom told you to “Eat your carrots” for eye health, she wasn’t fooling around. Beta-carotene provides relief from photosensitivity. Other research shows that people who eat carrots 2 to 3 times per week have lower risk for certain cancers. And drinking carrot juice can lower LDL (the “bad” cholesterol).

Sweet Potatoes
Ever ½ cup of cooked sweet potatoes equals 3 grams of fiber and 41% the DV for vitamin C.

Pumpkins
Save those pumpkin seeds! They’re a great source of magnesium, which is a champion of both bones and the heart.

Squash
Another great source of fiber in your diet – about 4 grams per ½ cup cooked.

Cantaloupe
Just 1 cup of cubed cantaloupe melon covers 113% the DV for vitamin C! When is it ready to pluck from your garden? Press your thumb on the spot where the fruit connects to the vine. If it slips right off, it’s ready.
