‘Grow Anywhere Tour’ – All Systems Go for Good Food
Burpee  Edible Gardening Team Members

The forecast called for snow, but the Burpee truck rolled on! We didn’t want to disappoint the students and community of Farnsworth Aerospace K-8 Magnet School in St. Paul Minnesota, our winning school for the Grow Anywhere Tour in the Minneapolis region.

What an amazing school this is! It’s a diverse mix of approximately 1200 students, and all are enthusiastic learners, but this school is a little different as the name suggests. Students at Farnsworth Aerospace get to train on real flight simulators as part of their aerospace curriculum, and work in a mock airport control tower. (See the photo below. We got a tour; way cool!)

The turnout for our visit at this school was great in spite of the snow and sleet. The students were very excited to have the Burpee Home Gardens truck there. Many of the students, parents, staff and teachers arrived early to help set up (in the much warmer, drier gymnasium) so a big thank-you to everyone who helped out.

All of the vegetable varieties and produce were handed out to approximately 400 students and parents. We were able to bring several tomato varieties, lettuce, and several pepper varieties. The hot peppers Zavory and Jalapeno Gigante were the favorites. The snow is a distant memory now as everyone who participated is now thinking about planting their garden this spring.

Follow the truck as it travels the country this spring! Real-time updates on Twitter @BurpeeHG, #BurpeeTruck, #GrowAnywhereTour.
