‘Sustainable Chili’ wins 2nd place

West End IB World School Garden Club entered the Chili Cook Off contest

West End IB World School is not only in the garden but in the kitchen, too! The Garden Club formed the team “Kids in the Garden” and entered the school’s third annual Chili Cook Off in an effort to raise money for the Outdoor Classroom and Garden Project.

Winter is time for planning

After closing down our gardens for the winter the students have been able to focus on lessons about how plants grow, sustainable agriculture techniques, and plan ahead to the spring about what they would like to plant.

Our students were so encouraged this Thanksgiving by serving vegetables they grew themselves to their families that we are working backwards....

Using your herb harvest in sweet peppermint tea

I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but it is still hot here in Los Angeles and my peppermint loves it! In fact, I have an over abundant crop right now! To keep it going strong, I harvest a handful every week or so and place it in a vase to add fragrance to a room. It is a natural air freshener for sure!
