‘Grow Anywhere Tour’ - Burpee in Atlanta
Burpee  Edible Gardening Team Members

The morning of the event, we arrived at Redbud Lane Nursery in Holly Springs to pick up large, beautiful veggie plants to give away at Charles R. Drew Charter School. The friendly folks at Redbud Lane were very helpful and had us in and out of the greenhouse in no time! Thank you so much for growing for the "Grow Anywhere Tour," Redbud Lane!

We visited The Family Tree in Snellville to talk to their customers about Burpee BOOST vegetables and new Bumper Crop Tomatoes. The staff and customers at The Family Tree were very friendly and had many gardening stories to share! Nanci McClendon of The Family Tree was very knowledgeable about the veggies and handed out coupons for a free vegetable plant. Phyllis and Paul Long from Redbud Lane came to The Family Tree to show their support also. It was nice to have the grower talking about the plants at the retail center to talk about the great quality of Burpee Home Gardens plants.

Soon we were back on the road and picking up the produce, headed to Charles R. Drew Charter School in Atlanta in the afternoon. We were met by Lindsey Luczynski from the school along with countless enthusiastic volunteers to help us unload the truck and bag up the produce. The parents and kids were so thankful for the produce and were very interested in growing their own vegetables. We even had some of the students volunteer to explain gardening to parents and other students. Some students handed out produce and veggies. Great job, kids, and great job volunteers! What a fantastic community! We must have had over 900 kids and adults attend the event.

We gave 50 vegetable plants to the school for their own garden and for the East Lake community learning garden just a few blocks away. The students and teachers will tend the garden and learn about how to grow vegetables. We saw true excitement and enthusiasm today from the kids about gardening.

Next stop: Jones Valley K – 8 in Birmingham, Alabama!
