Kid Power is blooming!
Kid Power, Inc.  2011 "I Can Grow" Youth Garden Award Winner

With the help of Burpee Home Gardens, Kid Power Inc. has been outside getting our hands dirty as our students learn about zucchini, watermelon, basil, and even stevia to name a few! Kid Power is an after school program in Washington, D.C. that offers academic, artistic, nutritional and service learning opportunities for under-served youth throughout the District of Columbia.

Through our Veggie Time program students learn how to garden, how to eat healthy, and how to have fun outdoors in the sunshine! Through the generosity of Burpee we were able to expand our vegetable gardens at two schools from a previous total of seven raised beds to 15!

In the past six weeks our gardens and students have been thriving! We will keep you posted as we grow into summer and put our zucchini recipes to the taste! Here are some photos from our big installation day this spring. ~ Erin Gordon, Elementary School Director, Kid Power, Inc.
