This 8-legged visitor has decided to stay

This summer we’ve had students, parents and teachers help maintain the garden, which was not an easy task with the extreme heat and dry weather we’ve experienced over the hot summer break. We’ve welcomed people from the neighborhood who stroll through the garden, joggers that pass by on their way to the park, and even one very spunky, green bean–loving dog that romps through the garden regularly.

So, who decided to stay and make our garden a home?

This beautiful spider! This eight-legged creature fascinates the students. Before school and throughout the day, the students check on the Garden Spider regularly and become alarmed if they aren’t able to spot her right away. Our Garden Spider is growing and seems quite content nestled in our tomato plants. Once again, the garden has presented another learning opportunity for our students! ~ Julie Prince, West End IB World School
