Community gardens are popping up across the country, and we couldn’t be happier! For instance, you’ll find Burpee Home Gardens vegetables growing in a city garden near Boston this season. Some of our Tomato, Pepper and Basil plants are part of a local human services organization that installed raised veggie garden beds for residential treatment programs benefitting folks with developmental disabilities.

The team of volunteers installed 22 4’x8’ garden beds this spring and planted them in May. Here’s a quick picture update of one of their garden’s 4th of July Tomato, which is right on schedule for harvest! What a great way to share fresh produce and the love of gardening with the community!

To find a community garden near you — and to get involved! — check out the American Community Gardening Association website at communitygarden.org.
