Burpee presents 'No Excuse' gardening!
Shirley Bovshow | 4 Comments

I’m calling Burpee Home Gardens’ ready-to-plant vegetables, the “no excuse” line of vegetable plants! As a professional landscape designer and gardening coach in Los Angeles, I’ve had many would-be gardeners say to me, “Shirley, I’d love to grow my own food but I have a small yard,” or, “I don’t have time to wait from seed to harvest,” or, “I don’t know what to do!”

Valid excuses … until now.

Burpee gets it!

I had the opportunity to take a “first peek” at Burpee Home Gardens new line of ready-to-plant vegetables while I was at their facilities taping for my Garden World Report show.

My eyes widened as Jessie Atchison, brand manager and blogger for Burpee Home Gardens led me through the aisles of fragrant herb plants, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and more!

Burpee Home Gardens Offers Solutions

Saves Time
I grow starter plants for my clients to ensure quality stock and have used Burpee seeds for many years. I took a look “under the hood” of the plants and found robust root systems, strong stems and healthy looking leaves. Now, I can easily shave off a good 4 to 6 weeks from my gardening schedule with their “pre-nurtured” plants. Thank you.

Saves Space
Another one of my favorite solutions that Burpee offers is compact varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers and other edible plants that can be grown in containers! So, if you live in an apartment or have a small yard, get ready for your edible garden!

Saves Us From Mistakes
I found out that Burpee Home Gardens offers a free “Garden Fresh” guide to vegetable gardening! Okay, so I know what I’m doing in the garden, but many new gardeners don’t and can benefit from this booklet! Make sure to sign up for the guide on the BHG website and they’ll mail it to your home.

I’ll be back to contribute tips on how to create edible gardens that are beautiful and productive, so look for my blog posts in the future!

Enough said, enjoy the short video tour of some of BHG new edible plants!

Love these Burpee plants. Now I can design edibles into my landscape designs. Finding nice vegetables can be troublesome. But not any more!

Hi Jane (s).
How fun, first time I reply to two different "Janes!"

I've heard of rice hull planters for a long time. It's great to see a plant grower use them in mass.

Hi Jane,
Maybe you should share photos of your edible gardens on the Burpee Home Gardens Facebook Fan page. The more inspiration we offer the better. I know you are a talented designer as well.
