‘Grow Anywhere Tour’ – Making Milwaukee Smile
Burpee  Edible Gardening Team Members

Woke up to a beautiful, perfectly sunny day and the Burpee truck headed to Menards in Franklin, Wisconsin, to visit our retail friends and mingle with spring shoppers. The associates at Menards were very nice and helpful as we set up our Burpee Home Gardens display. The excitement for spring planting was everywhere!

We handed out Burpee’s “Garden Fresh” guides and showed customers to our plants display. Driver Ben is an expert on all the veggie varieties, and he answered many questions from local gardeners. Our teamwork got the job done! Local retailers can be a very helpful resource as you plant your garden each season.

After leaving Menards we continued our journey to the lucky school hosting our Grow Anywhere Tour event, Milwaukee High School of the Arts. When we arrived we were greeted with smiles and many thanks for us being there.

The school planned a health fair at the same time as the Burpee truck visit, so we had plenty of discussions about healthy lifestyles and Burpee Home Gardens vegetables. Mr. John Butts was a very big help in having plenty of volunteers to bag the fresh produce for the community.

After a long day of Q & A and happy families, we gave a few remaining flats of plants to Mr. Butts for his new community garden plots on school grounds. He was so excited to get that going. We finally packed up the Burpee truck and headed to home base in West Chicago for some TLC on our trusty transportation.

Next stop: Chicago here we come!
